Wey Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme - Update



HLF Logo   Shaun Page, the Planning Officer has been involved In forming a Steering Group, which includes representatives/elected members from Local Authories in the area to be covered, plus the Environment Agency, Countryside Agency, English Nature, English Heritage, Wildlife Trusts, the education sector, and other organisations such as BTCV.
The Steering Group met for the first time on 14th March and is starting to look at the busy workload. Priorities for support are to promote long term social, economic and environmental benefits for rural areas by:
- Conserving/restoring main built and natural features that create historic landscape character
- Conserving and celebrating cultural associations/activities of the landscape area
- Encourage community involvement in making decisions about decisions on the landscape
- Encourage people to learn about and access the landscape heritage
- Improving understanding of local craft and other skills by providing training/learning opportunities
