Lydling Farm

Description of site: Lake built 10 years ago has developed into an important wildlife area, supporting Daubenton bats. There is a fence line linking wildlife area & newly planted hedge past Lydling farmhouse to trackside hedges.

Hedge planted in the CSS. Important ditch in CSS. Wet grassland. Becoming very choked with common bur-reed. Ancient semi-natural woodland.

Long term aim: To maintain this habitat for wildlife, by keeping the margins fairly open, to replace fence with native, species rich hedge, to ensure new hedge planting is successful, to clean out the ditch on a 3 year rotation, to maintain some open water and to re-establish coppice rotation.
